Abi Russell : Designer Theatre Maker
As a theatre maker, Abi is a jack of all trades – a set and sound designer, producer, writer, and performer. She is passionate about all aspects of making, and strives to make work that encourages audiences to think more critically about the world, through the creation of safe, yet challenging, spaces.
Having graduated with a bachelor’s in performance making from WAAPA, Abi has refined her practice to be centred on design, and advancing the independent arts industry’s approach to the integration of new technologies. She seeks to invite new audience into theatre spaces to expand the impact of the arts, while also stretching the philosophies of theatre audiences as we know them, so that every audience member will walk out of a show with a fresh perspective through which to engage with the world.
